Each one of us has a source of creativity within. Through painting, guided imagery, movement and music, we will uncover our own pathway to this creative source. We will center in our bodies and explore the connections between relaxation, movement and painting. As our bodies relax, our internal images begin to emerge. Learn to let your paintings reveal their truth and guide you to your next step of unfolding. In a safe, non-judgmental environment delve into the process of painting with watercolor, tempera and oil pastels and discover new possibilities for visual expression. (There will be some instruction.) I welcome both seasoned artists and beginners.
Mary Kostman is a painter and assemblage artist who delights in leading workshops for people to discover their innate creativity. Her work draws from her experience in the expressive arts (dance/art therapy, storytelling) and the healing arts (tai chi, Feldenkrais, polarity therapy, yoga, bioenergetics, meditation). She is a member of the Cambridge Art Association and the Women’s Caucus for Art and exhibits in the United States, Canada and Israel.

Discover how the energy that moves you to dance can also inspire you to paint. We will work on large sheets of paper individually and as a group, discovering the images that dwell within each of us and the feelings of freedom and joy that result when we paint them out. Explore your visual appetite and experience how your body expresses pleasure through color and strokes on paper. Accompanied by music, silence and guided imagery, we will take the energy of our movements and paint them onto two-dimensional surfaces. Open to all.
